The Cajun Mansion Event Venue in Youngsville, Louisiana, was transformed into an elegant slice of Tuscany for an unforgettable evening of wine education, gourmet cuisine, and cultural immersion. Hosted in partnership with the renowned Tenuta Torciano Winery from San Gimignano, Italy& Two Travel Gurus, our February 2025 Wine School and Tasting Event was a sold-out success, bringing together 65 guests eager to experience the magic of Italian winemaking.
A History of Our Wine Events with Tenuta Torciano
This was our third wine event with Tenuta Torciano, and each one has been more successful than the last. Our journey with this incredible winery began in 2019 when we took our travel group to their winery an unforgettable wine tasting. We experienced the winery firsthand, met the family behind the legacy, and indulged in their 100-year-old lasagna recipe right on the property. The authenticity and warmth of that visit left a lasting impression, inspiring us to bring this experience back home to Youngsville, Louisiana.
In January 2022, we hosted our first wine event with Tenuta Torciano, which sold out in just two hours! Due to the overwhelming demand, we quickly added a second event earlier the same day, and both were resounding successes. Seeing our friends and family enjoy this immersive experience without traveling to San Gimignano reaffirmed our mission to continue bringing these exclusive events to our community. With such incredible enthusiasm, it was only natural that we planned another one for 2025, and once again, it was an extraordinary evening.
A Warm Welcome with Prosecco and Italian Melodies
As guests arrived, they were greeted with a chilled glass of prosecco, a traditional Italian sparkling wine that set the stage for an authentic Tuscan experience. The ambiance was enriched with Italian music playing softly in the background, immersing attendees in the rich heritage of Italy before the tasting even began. The Cajun Mansion’s warm hospitality combined with the luxurious feel of the event ensured that our guests felt like they had stepped into a European villa.
Meet Lillo Torciano: Master Sommelier and Wine Enthusiast
Lillo Torciano, nephew of Tenuta Torciano’s owner, Pergulia Torciano, was our esteemed host for the evening. Growing up on the family’s vineyard, Lillo developed a deep understanding of winemaking and went on to become both a master sommelier and a skilled vintner. With a passion for sharing Italy’s rich wine culture, he travels extensively throughout the U.S., bringing the essence of Tuscany to select audiences.
His expertise shone through as he guided our guests through the intricate world of wine, captivating them with fascinating stories and insights into the art of winemaking. In addition to discussing wine varieties and techniques, Lillo provided a hands-on class covering essential sommelier skills—how to properly hold a glass, the nuances of food pairings, and the delicate balance of flavors that make each wine unique. His engaging and educational approach ensured that guests left with not only a refined palate but also a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship behind every bottle.

- Charcuterie Boards: A delectable selection of imported cheeses, cured meats, olives, and artisanal bread, perfectly complementing the wines served throughout the evening.
- 100-Year-Old Winery Recipe Lasagna: A highlight of the event, this rich and flavorful dish was made using a secret family recipe passed down through generations of the Torciano family. The lasagna’s layers of handmade pasta, slow-cooked ragu, creamy béchamel, and fine Italian cheeses created a symphony of flavors that transported guests straight to the Tuscan countryside.

Lillo introduced and guided guests through an exclusive tasting of six luxury wines, each representing the best of Tenuta Torciano’s collection. The selection included a variety of reds, whites, and dessert wines, each with unique flavor profiles, aromas, and aging techniques. Guests also had the opportunity to sample extra virgin olive oil and truffle-infused products, offering a well-rounded sensory experience of Tuscany’s finest exports.

Leading the charge was our Captain, Kaci, who skillfully orchestrated the evening with precision and grace. She was supported by her diligent team—Lori, Donnie, and Kahri—who ensured that every detail was executed flawlessly. Kaci, Lori, and Kahri meticulously plated and served the charcuterie boards, while Donnie played a crucial role in assisting the sommelier with wine pours and ensuring a seamless flow throughout the evening.
Our General Manager, Katherine, and Event Planner, Susan, worked tirelessly behind the scenes, setting up the event space to perfection and stepping in to serve the lasagna alongside the team. The event required expert coordination, with each team member walking to the same beat under Kaci’s direction. The seamless teamwork ensured that guests enjoyed a first-class experience where professionalism and hospitality shined at every turn.
Back of House: Precision and Perfection
Our kitchen and service staff worked diligently to ensure a flawless dining experience. Their dedication to quality was evident in every plated dish. The team expertly assembled charcuterie boards and served the rich, flavorful lasagna while ensuring each portion was delivered fresh and warm. Their ability to manage the fast-paced environment while maintaining high culinary standards was a testament to their professionalism and skill.
Setup and Cleanup: The Unsung Heroes
The transformation of the Cajun Mansion into an elegant Tuscan retreat did not happen overnight. Our setup team (Katherine & Susan) worked tirelessly to arrange seating, flawlessly arrange the table tops, prepare wine stations, and set the stage for an immersive experience. Once the event concluded, the cleanup staff swiftly restored the venue to its pristine state, allowing guests to leave with only fond memories of the evening. Their behind-the-scenes efforts ensured that every detail was executed seamlessly, from start to finish.
